Sketchoholic interview w/ Bobby Chiu

Just wanted to let everyone know I'll be doing an interview this Sunday November the 14th at 2pm PT streaming live on his sketchoholic site. I don't know exactly what I'll be talking about, but if anyone has questions, I think they be asked live via chat, or if left in the comments section of this post, I'll try to cover it.
I'll also be making a drawing this week to give away during the interview based on the theme "Flight". Here are the details...
See you on Sunday...

Okay, so I apologize in advance, but I'm SOOO friggin' excited about this interview and I have TONS of questions to ask, so this will be quite a long comment !...

And also, sorry if my english seems a bit odd sometimes, it's not my natural language. =)

Here we go :

1) I've heard that Story Artists at Pixar are kind of specialized in one area : there are the action guys, the comedy/funny guys, the mood guys, the sad/tender scene guys, etc... What kind of Story Artist would you say you are ? What's your favorite kind of sequence to work on ?

2) Also, do you think an aspiring Story Artist should try to become REALLY good at the kind of sequences he loves doing, or that he should try to learn to do all kind of sequences well ?

3) In a portfolio, should one do the kind of sequence that he's the most excited and passionate about ? Did you do that in your portfolio for Pixar ?

4) Speaking of which, do you still have the portfolio that got you into Pixar ? Can we take a look at it ? If not, what was your story about ?

5) Knowing that you wanted so badly to be a Story Artist, were your drwings specifically "geared towards story" ? I mean, did you take the time to make perfectly rendred drawings or did you always do quick, rough drawings, because you knew you had to do it that way in feature boards ?

6) What would you include in your blog if you were an aspiring Story Artist ? Would you try to show your personality and only put work that you're really excited about ? Tell only the kind of stories that you're the most passionate about ? Do you think blogs are a good way for being noticed ?

7) In your opinion, what are the things that make up a great storyboard ? What are the most important things to keep in mind when boarding ?

8) Can you tell us what kind of Story Artist (action, comedy, emotion, suspense, facial expressions, etc...) are your colleagues (Adrian Molina, Erik Benson, Enrico Casarosa, Emma Coats, Nick Sung, Ronnie Del Carmen, Bill Presing, Derek Thompson, Mark Andrews, Jamie Baker, etc...) ? In particular, who are the guys specialized in sad, tender, emotional scenes ?

Well I think I'm going to stop for now, but I could just go on and on.

I know you won't be able to answer all these questions, but well, the interview is gonna rock no matter what.

OH MY GOD. I CAN'T WAIT.

See you Sunday ! =)

I just wanted to thank you for giving up such insight into being a professional artist. It was so encouraging to hear you talk about being an artist (in general) and hearing your thoughts on story and filmmaking. I am constantly inspired by your work, and look forward to seeing more. Thank you so much!
