Eulogy

.1979

One month ago on July 22nd 2009 my mother, Debbie Lee Robertson passed away suddenly. With her passing, I have lost one of the great sources of love and inspiration in my life.
She was a career nurse, spending her life in the service and care of others, doing so with the same grace, tenderness and uncompromising diligence she brought to the tending to the hearts and wounds of her own family. She faced life's obstacles with patience, courage and an unwavering spirit that found joy in every moment she was given, too few, though they were. She is the finest person I have ever known, and I am blessed considerably to have been raised in her love, warmth and generosity.
I miss her more than I could ever say, but as memory serves the soul, she will be with me. I will set my life to her example, and hope that someday, I'll see her again.
I love you Mom,
James

what a great tribute to your mom.
i can't even begin to imagine losing someone who meant all those beautiful things you wrote.
my mom was also a nurse, and somehow managed to gracefully raise four boys...
and for all those things you said, i am eternally grateful.
your mom sounds like a terrific lady.
i'm sure that my mom would have loved talking to your mom.

James, I'm very sorry to hear about your Mother. I lost my Mom to Cancer back in '89. I know for a fact that I will indeed see her again. This is a beautiful tribute.
My condolences to you and your family sir.

Your mother is honored to have a son who would write "She is the finest person I have ever known." I believe she is celebrating your love for her now, and, will continue to watch after you and cheer your inspiring work until you are reunited. That anything Exists is a mystery; we seem genuinely justified in taking consolation in the thought it would be strange if our loved ones were to disappear. May she remain close to you forever. Condolences.

Very touching sentiments, James. I've definitely looked at my own mom differently since I heard the news. You're right, our parents are a source of love that we sort of take for granted will always be there. They're each really half of our world.

Now whenever my mom leaves an unnecessarily long voice mail, I take care to listen to the whole thing. Even if I know that no new information is going to be given in the last two and a half minutes of the message.

I had no idea James! I am so sorry for your loss.
In times like this I never know what to say; as word cannot express how sorry I am for you and I can't think of the words that will make you feel better.

Your mom sounded like a wonderful person whose charm and brightness touched many lives. I'm sure she will never be forgotten.

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
